This series came about in a magical way. I had an idea over half a decade ago to write children’s books about the greatest moments in sports. Each book would depict a great sports moment, think Bulls vs Jazz 1998 NBA Finals Game 6 or Patriots over Falcons Superbowl. The twist was that the main characters would be a G.O.A.T. in a world of humans. It was an idea, it felt like a winner, but it was just that, an idea, and I wasn’t a children’s book author.
So, I love reading biographies, as I feel the best way to learn is by learning from those that have done it. It's entertaining and educational in so many ways.
Then in 2022 when my son was born, I bought a bunch the biography books to read to him. There was nothing special about them, and most of them felt like a money grab. I didn’t like the illustrations and he never wanted me to read them to him again (he’s now 2.5) as the illustrations for kids are the most important part of the books. We never really got through any of the books because it’s a biography and he’s a toddler!
After talking about it to exhaustion, I rebirthed my original idea and I knew that this could be amazing for kids. The G.O.A.T. legends that we all have idolized would be perfect to depict in the best children’s book series ever… kids, parents, sports fans, and overall fans of greatness can LOVE.
This is how The G.O.A.T. Series was born…
